Hi there, thanks for stopping by.  If you are here as part of our blog hop you may have come over from Piper’s home.  I’m sure you enjoyed your visit with her and thanks for following along.  I know it’s cold out there, but before we come in let’s take a quick look around my front porch.  It’s actually one of my favorite spots to decorate, and this season I have added a couple of fun and easy DIY’s that I think you might want to try for yourself. First, check out the ornament filled lantern.  A lantern is one of the most versatile decor pieces around.  You might recognize…

    Clear Glass Ornament With Snow

Are you looking for the perfect Christmas party craft?   These adorable ornaments are quick and easy for any age group.  Another great thing about these ornaments is they come require very little actual artistic skill and they come out beautiful every time.  This makes them a great choice for a party. We started with clear glass ornaments in various shapes and added Epson Salts as the snow. Rustic Wooden Shelves Made from Upcycled Wood

Aren’t these shelves just gorgeous?  They were so easy to make and they are very special to me because of the wood used, but they would be equally stunning with any type of old reclaimed wood.  In a moment, I will show you step-by-step how to make these shelves, but first a short story about the wood I used.  These gorgeous shelves were made from boards originally used by my Dad to frame his vegetable garden, and to make it even more special, the boards were made from a tree cut from my uncle’s farm.  After Dad passed away, I brought the wood home knowing that I would find…

    Mummy Cupcakes

What could make for a better Halloween treat than these super cute and super spooky mummy Halloween cupcakes.  These cupcakes are much easier to make than they look.  They only require a couple of decorator tips, three colors of frosting, and some candy googly-eyes When creating these cupcakes, I tried to use as little black and red icing as possible as these two color require so much tint that the flavor of the frosting can be effected. Buttercream is the perfect frosting for these cupcakes are it is delicious and easy to work with.  You can find two different buttercream recipes here.  I have recently begun using Wilton Color Right Performance Food…

    Buttercream Frosting Recipe

Buttercream frosting is a great choice as it is delicious and easy to work with.  I typically use one of two modified versions of the Wilton Buttercream Icing. Option 1 This version is more stable and can be used when the frosting or the final product will remain unrefrigerated for longer.  It’s a great choice for a kids party or a school event.  This version produces a true white frosting. 1 tsp Wilton clear vanilla extract 1 tsp Wilton no color butter flavor 1 cup solid vegetable Shortening (crisco) {the freshness of the shortening effects the taste!!} 1 TBSP Wilton Meringue Powder 1 lb shifted confectioners sugar a pinch of…
