Transform Plain Glass Vases into Gorgeous Sea Glass
Using only a couple of items you most likely have around you home you can give plain clear glass the lovely look of seaglass. I started with simple glass bud vases which I purchased for $1.00 each at the Target dollar spot. While I purchased mine at Target, similar bud vases can be found here. Before I began, I cleaned each of the vases with rubbing alcohol to make sure I started with a clean surface. All you need to transform plain glass into lovely seaglass is food coloring and glue. I used Wilton Color Right icing colors. Their color chart can help you achieve any color desired, however any…

How to Create a Winter Themed Hot Chocolate Bar
Now that Christmas has come and gone we are often left with the question of how to decorate until spring. It’s not quite time to break out the Easter decor, and it’s still really cold in most of the country, so I decided this year to decorate some areas of my home with a snowy winter white. Today we will look at how I changed out the wine cart to a winter white hot cocoa bar. Since the budget is not unlimited, I tried to reuse items where I could. Obviously you will want to remove anything with Santa or Christmas trees but I really think the key to reusing…

My Trick for Perfect Placement on a Gallery Wall
I love gallery walls when everything is in its perfect place. I think I must be worse at deciding on the perfect place than most because I never get it right the first time. However, I have found something that works for me. At least, it works when the wall has to be painted anyway. If the wall needs to be painted a new color, and will require two coats of paint, I like to paint on one coat and then play around with the placement of my items making up the gallery wall. I have never had much luck with marking out the spaces on the wall with painters…

Tiny Updates Major Impact
Sometimes while shopping for that perfect piece, you find exactly what you are looking for, well almost exactly. If it were just a little different it would be perfect. Sometimes you don’t have to live with almost perfect. Many times, simple changes can transition a piece from close enough to just what you were looking for. When I first saw this piece at Hobby Lobby, I loved it. The mix of letters, the rustic farmhouse look, the simplicity, the size. Everything was perfect. Well, everything except for the color of the N. I’m not a huge fan of pea soup green, but my problem wasn’t a particular dislike of the…

How to Apply Gold Leaf
Gold Leaf How To: Gold leafing, or gilding, can add an elegant look to many projects and it’s much easier to do than it seems. I want to walk you through the steps I used to add a gold leafing to these otherwise plain white candlesticks. When I first decided to update these candlesticks I thought I wanted to go with an all-white rustic look. However, when they were finished they reminded me more of something that belongs in Disney’s Haunted Mansion than something I would love to have displayed in my dining room. Don’t get me wrong, I do love Disney’s Haunted Mansion, I just don’t want my…

Updating an Orange-y Oak to a modern whitewash
How to Transform Orange-y Oak to a Modern Whitewash I found this cute little sign that is perfect for my command center – above the weekly calendar. I love this piece, and it’s placement, because we should all try to remember to enjoy every moment of everyday – not just the big moments or the big days! What I didn’t love was the orange-y color of the piece. To fit with my other items in the command center, I wanted to get rid of the orange and end up with a more modern farmhouse look of aged gray. To achieve the look I wanted, I used a two-step process. First…
